Republic Act No. 10743 titled “An Act Declaring the Fifth Day of October of Every Year as The National Teachers’ Day” and UNESCO have designated October 5 of every year as National Teachers’ Day (NTD) and World Teachers’ Day (WTD). It is a day to honor teachers and the central role they play in guiding children, youth and adults through the life-long learning process. In the Philippines, it has been made a month-long celebration through the issuance of Proclamation No. 242 in 2011 titled “Declaring the Period from 05 September to 05 October of Every Year as ‘National Teachers’ Month’” (NTM). This year, the NTM/NTD/WTD shall be celebrated with the theme “Gurong Filipino: Katuwang sa Hamon, Kasama sa Pagbangon.”
