1. This Office hereby provides the field with the enclosed copy of DepEd Order No. 48, s. 2016 entitled, “Policy and Guidelines on Comprehensive Tobacco Control”. It aims to raise the awareness of public and private students by advocating the adverse effects of cigarette smoking on health, productivity, the cost of health service, and the economy.
2. Laws and series of Issuances released by DepEd as bases of Policy and Guidelines on Comprehensive Tobacco Control shall not only educate and inform all learners on the hazards of tobacco use but also apply to all DepEd Division Officials, Heads of Units, Personnel, Heads of Public and Private Elementary and Secondary Schools as well as teaching and non- teaching personnel.
3. Furthermore, all Schools shall submit progress report as needed and an annual report on the degree of implementation of this policy in the school not later than the first week of December each year in the Division. ( Attention of all concerned is hereby invited on pp. 7,8,9 & 10 of the Memorandum)
4. All other constitutional provisions relative to this DepEd Order are indicated in the attached copy for guidance and compliance of all concerned.
5. Prompt dissemination of this Memorandum is directed.
