1. Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 22 s. 2020 re: the 2020 National Intellectual Disability Week, this Division hereby informs the field about the conduct of the Division Intellectual Disability Week as a response to Presidential Proclamation No. 1385, s.197 with the theme: Karampatang Pagkalinga Tungo sa Maunlad na Kinabukasan, from February 24-28, 2020.
2. All schools with Special Education (SPED) Programs, namely Bautista Elementary School, Burol Elementary School, Francisco E. Barzaga Elementary School, Dr. Jose P. Rizal Elementary School, Salawag Elementary School, Sta. Cruz Elementary School, New Era National High School, Paliparan National High School, and Francisco E. Barzaga Integrated High School are encouraged to conduct any of the following suggested school-based activities during the week: a. Inviting the public to visit schools and classes or other educational service providers for children and youth with intellectual disabilities;
b. Showcasing the potential capabilities of children and youth with intellectual disabilities;
c. Conducting dialogues with parents, service providers, and stakeholders on the theme of the celebration; and
d. Discussing effective practices and systems of approach to better improve inclusion of children and youth with intellectual disabilities in the classroom, school and community during teachers’ and parents’ meetings in regular classes or school programs.
3. All activities to be undertaken should not disrupt regular classes nor compromise their supervision pursuant to DepEd order No. 9s. 2005 titled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time —on- Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith.
4. A narrative report on the conduct of activities related to the celebration shall be submitted to the Curriculum Implementation Division through email at: cid@depeddasma.edu.ph on or before March 6, 2020.
