Dasmarinas City – Revisiting the core of strategic planning, school heads and teacher coordinators of School-Based Management (SBM) and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) participated in a two-day training workshop on School Improvement Plan (SIP) held on February 18-19 at Emilio Aguinaldo College – Dasmarinas.

Mr. Christopher R. Diaz, Schools Division Superintendent, welcomed the participants and expressed his hope for a better alignment of programs, projects and activities in the Division and school level. “As the popular saying goes, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. We are now planning to manage failure. Today, we are doing our part in making strategic SIPs for our schools, learning from our failures in the past, and moving forward with better programs that serve the best interest of our students and teachers,” said SDS Diaz.

The training was facilitated by Mr. Rey Macalindong, former director at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) and consultant at DepEd Central Office. On the first day, the participants were reviewed on the basic concepts in strategic planning. In addition, they were introduced to tools and methods used in analyzing the situation and needs of the school and identifying focus areas for school improvement. On the second day, the school heads and teachers were engaged in a hands-on workshop on crafting the first part of the SIP. The participants presented their work and feedback was shared afterwards.

Present in the training are representatives from the Regional Office Field and Technical Assistance Division (FTAD) and Division Office personnel from the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) and School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD). The training is the first phase of a series of capacity building and technical assistance on SIP.
