1. With reference to RA 11106, An Act Declaring the Filipino Sign Language as the National Sign Language of the Filipino Deaf and the Official Sign Language of Government in Transactions Involving the Deaf, and mandating its use in Schools, Broadcast media, and Workplaces, and Republic Act No.11650, An Act Instituting a Policy of Inclusion and Services for learners with Disabilities in Support of Inclusive Education, this office announces the conduct of Division Orientation of Special Needs Education Teachers on Filipino Sign Language (FSL) on July 29-31,2025 to be held at The Bayleaf Hotel, General Trias City, Cavite.
2. This activity aims to: a) orient Special Needs Education teachers with foundational proficiency in Filipino Sign Language (FSL) and be able to communicate with learners using FSL vocabulary, grammar, and syntax, ensuring that they can meet the communication needs of learners with hearing impairments ; and b) develop strategies and instructional materials to effectively incorporate FSL in their classroom activities, ensuring that learners with hearing impairments receive equitable and quality education in accordance with the Filipino Sign Language Act.
3. The participants in this activity are the Special Needs Education Teachers (SNED) and Receiving Teachers in elementary and secondary schools with Special education Programs. Please see attached list of participants and matrix of the activities.
4. Participation to this activity shall observe DepEd Order No.9 s. 2005 on Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time- On- Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith, and strict compliance to other existing DepEd rules and guidelines.
