The COVID-19 pandemic has strengthened the importance of health and hygiene measures in schools as part of its pandemic preparedness and control, as well as response strategy, thereby creating an even greater demand to capacitate school personnel on infection prevention and control (IPC).

In this regard, the Department, in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) through its Regional Fit for School Programme, Hygiene and Behaviour Change Coalition (HBCC), and Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) will offer the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Infection Prevention and Control in Schools which aims to ensure safe operations within and
beyond a pandemic.

The MOOC was developed as capacity-building initiative to reach school personnel at  scale and in the most efficient way to ensure that relevant measures related to IPC are reaching school heads and teachers with unified messaging. This is much needed to capacitate respective measures in all schools. The content of this IPC MOOC is in accordance with and in support of DepEd Order No. 14, s. 2020 or Guidelines on the Required Health Standards in Basic Education Offices and Schools.

The following are the details of the IPC MOOC:
