Teacher-librarians work on their visions for their school libraries

A 3-day seminar-workshop entitled “Capacity Building for Teacher Librarians on Library Fundamentals” was held April 25-27, 2017 at Dasmariñas National High School Library.

Topics presented are A School Library as Integral Part of a School, The Basics of Setting-up A Library, Lecture on Library Works, The Basics of Classification and Cataloging, Presentation of the Rubrics for the Most Functional Library and Most Functional Reading Area, The Challenges of Providing Library Services with Limited Resources, Selection of Print and Non-Print Materials, Library Development Plan, The Art of Storytelling, and the Overview of Koha Integrated Library System.

Teacher-librarians participated in benchmarking functional libraries as culminating activity of the seminar-workshop. They were able to visit the Academic Resource Center of Lyceum of the Philippines University Cavite, Romeo P. Ariniego MD Library of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute, Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo and Learning Resource Center of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, Chess Library, and Aklatang Panlungsod ng Dasmariñas.
