
To orient the public elementary and secondary schools in the Division which are to be recipients of the DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) Batch 29-33 and share updates on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) integration in education, the City Schools Division of Dasmarinas in partnership with Microsoft Philippines conducted a division-wide DCP orientation training on March 17-18 at Tanza Oasis Hotel, Tanza, Cavite. The training was attended by 39 ICT coordinators from all the public schools in Dasmarinas and selected Division officials.
The two-day training was opened with a welcome message from the OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Manuela S. Tolentino. Dr. Tolentino talked about the importance of technology as a tool in assisting learning. She also shared the different stages of ICT integration which gives emphasis to the balance between technology and pedagogy. Her message was followed and supported further by the Regional IT Officer, Mr. Rey Valenzuela, who discussed the overview of DCP and imparted reminders for an effective implementation of the DCP at the school level.
The training proper started with the workshop on teaching with technology led by Microsoft Education Ambassadors namely Ms. Irene Cruz, Ms. Devy Galang, Ms. Dolores Montesines, and Mr. Ismael Santianes. The speakers did a demonstration lecture on the different Microsoft tools which can be used in the classroom. After which, Mr. Carlou Adao, Division IT Officer, discussed the general guidelines on the DCP Batch 29-33 and other related concerns in terms of ICT.
For the second day of the training, Mr. Ryan Ashley Rollan, Division Supply Officer, talked about the proper delivery and acceptance of the DCP package. This was followed by the continuation of Microsoft’s training on the different online tools and applications which can be used in teaching. The training ended with the distribution of certificates of the participants, resource speakers, and members of the organizing committee.
The Division Orientation on the 2015 DepEd Computerization Program (Batch 29-33) was led by Mr. Carl Adao, with participation from the members of the Schools Governance and Operations Division namely Ms. Vanessa Barcarse, Senior Education Program Specialist for HRD; Ms. Babilonia Alvarez, Education Program Specialist for HRD; and Ms. Anne Katherine Cortez, Education Program Specialist for Social Mobilization and Networking, who acted as members of the technical committee.
