1. In line with the goal of making every child a reader which was highlighted in DepEd Memorandum No. 173, s. 2019, this Division takes initiative in determining the reading status of our elementary school learners through administration of reading validation assessment. The activity shall be done from January 27-31, 2020 in all elementary public schools in the division.

2. This initiative aims the following:

a. assess the reading ability of incoming Grade 7 learners for profiling;

b. determine the comprehension and oral reading levels of our learners for possible remediation the schools can offer before the school year ends; and

c. gauge the effectiveness of the existing reading programs of the schools in improving reading skill of their learners.

3. Relative to this, English and Filipino head teachers will behaving a meeting on January 13, 2020 at 2 pm @ SDO Conference Room.

4. In order to determine the number of teachers to be deployed in each school, school heads of all elementary schools are requested to submit list of their Grade 6 learners per section using the attached template to their respective Public Schools District Supervisors.

5. For immediate and necessary actions, school heads will be provided with the copy of the results of the assessment a week after.
