his is to inform you that beginning July 1, 2016, the Abot-Alam program will be transferred from the Office of the Undersecretary for Partnerships and External Linkages (OUPEL) to the Bureau of Learning Delivery (BLD), specifically under the Student Inclusion Division (SID). This move is part of the transition to the new Administration as well as the integration and mainstreaming of Abot-Alam into the regular Alternative Learning System (ALS).
The implementation of Abot-Alam, including the downloading of funds to the Regional and Division Offices, will continue until end of 2016 using the 2015 continuing funds. All out-of-school youth who will be mapped but could no longer be served by Abot-Alam Literacy Volunteers shall be endorsed to regular ALS implementers to ensure that they can still be served even beyond the funding support of Abot-Alam.
The current members of the Abot-Alam Secretariat will end their contracts of service on June 30, 2016. Beginning July 1, the Abot-Alam focal person will be Mr. Roderick Corpuz. He may be reached at abotalam.deped@gmail.com or (632) 634-2924.
