Dasmarinas City – The Department of Education City Schools Division of Dasmarinas and Greenpeace Southeast Asia Environmental Trust, Inc sign a Memorandum of Understanding, committing to a partnership which seeks to champion the Youth Formation Program particularly on environmental advocacy, July 26, 2019.
Responding to the call of promoting environmental awareness and action among the youth, Dasmarinas City is the first DepEd Division to initiate a policy on regulating the use of single-use plastic in all schools and offices in the city. Through Division Order No. 1, s. 2019, all students and teachers are directed to refrain from using disposable plastic containers including single-use plastic bottles/cups, plastic bags/cellophanes, polystyrene containers (Styrofoam), and other plastic materials. The Supreme Pupil Government/ Supreme Student Government and Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) take the lead in monitoring the implementation of the said policy.
Greenpeace shall work with DepEd Dasmarinas to support the Division in its environment-focused programs and projects and promote #breakfreefromplastic campaign. The partnership shall benefit all 43 public elementary and secondary schools and more than 120,000 learners in the Division.
Mr. Christopher Diaz, Schools Division Superintendent, thanked Greenpeace for its support and pledged to put in place more solutions and practices advocating conservation of the environment. Likewise, Greenpeace expressed its commitment to DepEd and all students, vowing to spread its environmental advocacy in schools.

Greenpeace is represented by its coordinator Ms. Haydee Illenberger and other volunteers in the Philippines.
