1. Pursuant to Republic Act. No. 7079, otherwise known as the “Campus Journalism Act of 1991” and to the Division’s goal of enhancing the journalistic skills of the learners even amid education transition, all schools (private and public) are encouraged to conduct a simple yet meaningful School-based Press Conference.

2. All schools shall be guided by the rationale and objectives of the conduct of the
press conference:
a. promotes the development and growth of campus journalism as a
means of strengthening values, encouraging critical and creative thinking,
and developing moral character and personal discipline of the Filipino
youth;
b. improves journalistic skills of the learners concerned; and
c. promotes responsible and free journalism.

3. The conference shall have the following contests:

a.5. Copyreading and Headline Writing
a.6. Science and Technology Writing
a.7. Photojournalism
a.8. Editorial Cartooning

b. Group
b. 1. Radio Script Writing and Broadcasting
b.2. Collaborative Publishing
b.3. TV Script Writing and Broadcasting (High School Only)
b.4. Online Publishing

4. The schools are given a latitude of discretion to decide on the format or the strategy of the activity. This may be done through classroom-based performance journalistic tasks, online synchronous or asynchronous activity, or other strategies.
