Attached herewith is the DepEd Order No 37, s. 2022 re: Guidelines on the cancellation or suspension of classes and work in schools in the event of natural disasters, power outrages/power interruptions and other calamities which upholds the principle of promoting the welfare, safety, and security of learners and personnel at all times.
This Memorandum further substantiates and updates DepEd Order (DO) No. 83, s. 2011 tilled “Disaster Preparedness Measures for Schools” and DO No. 21, s. 2015 titled “Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Coordination and Information Protocol,” which encloses guidelines on what must be done by schools in order to safeguard learners, personnel, and educational investments in times of calamities
and emergencies and the measures to be taken by the schools.
In line with this, the School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) announces the Ocular Inspection to all Public Elementary and Secondary Schools after every onslaught of a disaster to continue undertaking response, early recovery, and reporting based on DRRM protocols such as inspection of school facilities to vet damages as reported by School DRRM coordinators, detailed assessment of damaged facilities for purposes of developing the Program of Works for infrastructure costing in rehabilitation and recovery plans, and participation in coordination meetings with LDRRMCs.
