1. For the information and guidance of the field, this Office disseminates DepEd Memorandum OUGF No. 2022-03-0991 re: 2022 Global Handwashing Day. This global advocacy day is celebrated every 15th of October and is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding on the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.
2. Relative to this, the Local Government of Marikina City will organize this year’s celebration of the Global Handwashing Day, with the theme, Unite for Universal Hygiene.
3. In line with the said celebration, an in-person program titled Saina-samang Ikaway, Malinis na Kamay will be held at the Marikina Elementary School on October 14, 2022 (Friday), 9:00-11:00 AM and will also be broadcasted live via the OK sa DepEd and DepEd Philippines Facebook Pages.
4. This activity aims to highlight the importance of multisectoral collaboration in promoting a culture of hand hygiene and to emphasize hand hygiene as a critical public health measure to ensure safe schools and communities. To showcase best practices in hand hygiene-related preparations for school reopening, the event shall feature video presentations submitted by regions.
5. In this regard, schools and offices of this Division are highly requested to watch the live broadcast of the event via the OK sa DepEd and DepEd Philippines Facebook Pages.
