1. One of the main features of the K to 12 program is the delivery of lessons through contextualization and localization. Section 10.2 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) 10533 states that “Curriculum shall be contextualized and be flexible enough to enable and allow schools to localize and enhance the curriculum based on their respective educational and social contexts”.
2. In support to this mandate, the City Schools Division of Dasmariflas issues this Division Policy on Curriculum Teaching and Instructional Materials (IMs) Localization. This policy was crafted based on the results of the classroom observation and technical assistance conducted by the Education Program Supervisors (EPS) and Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDS) that localization in classroom teaching was not given utmost importance.
3. To this effect, this Division through the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) Unit in cooperation with the Learning Resource Management Development System (LRMDS) will spearhead the crafting of localized instructional materials specifically for key stage 1 learners as first step
towards localization.
4. Other important details regarding this policy are attached to this Memorandum. All concerned is advised to adhere with its content.
5. Immediate dissemination of and compliance with this Memorandum is directed.
