1. This office informs all concerned of a communication relayed by the Office of the City Mayor regarding a letter from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), in response to the Department of Education’s request for the deployment of Barangay Tanods in school gates.
2. In line with this, School Heads/Principals are hereby encouraged to coordinate directly with the Punong Barangays within their school’s jurisdiction for the deployment of barangay tanods in designated areas limited to school gates, in order to implement enhanced security measures as necessary, and to help ensure the safety and protection of learners, school personnel, and visitors.
3. Such coordination must be conducted in accordance with existing school policies and local ordinances. School Heads are advised to document the coordination and arrangements made and submit a brief report to the Schools Division Office – SGOD for monitoring and reference.
4. Enclosed is the DILG Memorandum and other related communications for full reference and guidance.
