1. In accordance to DepEd Order No. 10, s. 2016 re: Policy and Guidelines on the Comprehensive Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools (WinS) Program, the field is hereby directed to accomplish their respective annual WaSH in Schools (WinS) Self-Assessment Tool for S.Y. 2023-2024. This aims to determine the status of the WinS Program implementation of all public schools.
2. It is reiterated that schools shall focus on improving the five crucial points of the WaSH in Schools Program which include the following:
• provision of safe and free drinking water;
• daily group handwashing activities (supported by schedule);
• availability of usable group handwashing facilities with soap;
• access to sanitary pads; and
• usable sex-segregated toilets.
3. The self-assessment tool must be accomplished completely. Never leave a question blank. Furthermore, the accuracy of these data must also be checked prior to submission: School ID, School address, enrollment data per shift, number of usable toilets and group handwashing facilities, and total number of dewormed learners.
4. In addition, water analysis must be done semi-annually, while the sanitary permits shall be updated annually. Food handlers shall also acquire their respective health certificates as well. Solid waste management, e.g. waste segregation, in schools must also be strictly observed at all times.
5. The file version of the self-assessment tool to be used is version 2022-07-15.
6. Please use this format in saving the WinS self-assessment tool:
