1. Relative to Division Memorandum No. 316, s. 2023 re: Division Competition on Storybook Writing 2023, this Office informs the field of the additional details to the said activity.
2. Storybook entries shall follow the mechanics provided in DepEd Memorandum No. 78, s. 2022 titled “Conduct of the 4th National Competition on Storybook Writing.” Storybook entries, while abiding by the social content guidelines, must also observe the following technical specifications:
a. Number of words for Grades 4, 5, and 6 (Category 2) must not exceed 5,000.
b. All entries must be typed in a word processing service (e.g. MS Word) using Times New Roman, Garamond, Bookman Old Style, and other serif typefaces in double space, size 12.
c. There shall be no identification on submitted entries other than the title and story itself.
d. Learning competencies covered shall be placed in the last part of the manuscript, written in italics, flushed right.
3. Deadline of submission for storybook entries (manuscript only, no illustrations yet) is on August 16, 2023, Wednesday, 4:00 PM at https://bit.ly/DSMSubmitSB. Any submission beyond this deadline shall no longer be accepted.
4. The Curriculum Implementation Division-Learning Resource Management Section shall conduct the Division Screening and Selection of Storybooks on August 17, 2023. The Criteria for Judging during the 4th National Competition on Storybook Writing shall be used in this screening and selection. Successful participants shall be notified through the issuance of a memorandum.
5. Technical assistance shall be provided by the Division Screening and Selection Committee on August 18, 2023. Select illustrators shall be invited to attend for the assignment of storybook entries.
6. Attached to this Memorandum are the criteria for judging and social content guidelines.
7. All other provisions of the DM 316, s. 2023 shall remain in effect unless otherwise stated.
