1. Pursuant to Department of Health (DOH) Department Memorandum No. 2024-0250 titled “Interim Guidelines on the Resumption of School-Based Immunization (SBI) for the Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases (VPDs),” the Department of Education (DepEd), in partnership with DOH and Local Government Units (LGUs), shall resume the implementation of school-based immunization targeting specific grade levels.
2. SBI aims to protect school-aged children against measles, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, and human papillomavirus (HPV), especially with the full return of face-to face classes and the increasing risk of VPD outbreaks. Specifically, the orientation aims to:
a. Provide parents with accurate information on the benefits and safety of MR-Td and HPV vaccines
b. Address misconceptions and vaccine hesitancy through education and open discussion
c. Ensure parents’ active participation by signing consent forms for their children’s vaccination
d. Increase vaccine uptake and strengthen community protection against vaccine-preventable diseases.
