This is to inform you that the City Government of Dasmariñas shall conduct the annual Alay Lakad on September 17, 2016 (Saturday) with the assembly time at 4:00 a.m. with assembly areas at Barangay Burol Main (along Governor Mangubat Avenue), Barangay St. Peter I (along Congressional Avenue) and University Hills at Barangay Sampaloc IV (along Congressional Avenue). The parade shall commence at 5:00 a.m. and congregate at the Dasmariñas National High School – Main Grounds. All the participants are encouraged to come in their physical fitness attire since there shall be a Zumba session during the program that will signify the oneness of the Dasmarineños for the benefit of the out-of-school youth. Kindly refer to the hereto-attached list stating the assigned assembly area to each sector and the order of parade.
This yearly endeavor intends to raise funds for the projects and programs of your local government unit pertaining to the welfare of the out-of-school youth such as the Bahay Pag-Asa established in January 2010 wherein street children are provided with temporary shelter until they are reunited with their families or transferred to a permanent refuge. It also serves as a venue for learning where they are taught pre-school education and values formation and as a venue for recreation where their right to play is upheld. As of August 2016, 162 children have benefitted from this program.
Bahay Kalinga is another worthwhile youth-oriented project that benefits from the proceeds of the Alay Lakad. Founded in February 2006, it functions as a temporary refuge for minors with pending court cases so that they need not be incarcerated in the city jail so as to prevent them from being adversely influenced by other inmates. During their stay at ahay Kalinga, children in conflict with the law are taught informal education, socio-cultural skills, and home life skills. They are also provided with medical services and psycho-social services as well as free legal assistance. As of August 2016, 1,017 minors have been sheltered at Bahay Kalinga.
In this regard, the undersigned kindly requests for your support in ensuring the success of this year’s Alay Lakad that ensures that the less fortunate youth of our city are provided with much love and attention through your financial contribution and parade participation. Monetary donations in cash or check for which official receipts shall be issued are accepted at the Office of the City Treasurer at the City Hall or upon registration on the day of the event.
Furthermore, all the participants are requested to provide their own refreshments during the parade.
