1. Pursuant to DepEd Unnumbered Memorandum entitled “118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence” and to Administrative Order No. 23, s.2011, the secretary of the Department of education (DepEd) is hereby designated as member of the National Steering committee (NSC) with the direction of the National historical commission of the Philippines (NHCP) in the celebration of the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.
2. To commemorate the 1181h Anniversary of the Battle of Alapan and to observe the National Flag Day, the following activities are suggested to be undertaken by the schools:
a. Display and raise the Flag from May 18 to June 30, 2015;
b. Flag Raising and Wreath-Laying rites in honor of the national and local heroes on May 18, 2015;
c. Civic parade;
d. Flag reverence and advocacy activities;
e. Cultural presentations;
f. Classroom discussions of the significant events in history which led to the Proclamation of Philippine Independence especially in Araling Panlipunan, English, Filipino, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, and Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health; and
g. Other creative and fitting activities.
