The Department of Education issued a memorandum dated May 06, 2020 calling for at least twenty-five (25) volunteers per region who will be assigned as encoders or barcoders in the four (4) Mega Swabbing Centers in the Philippines (Palacio de Maynila Tent [Roxas Blvd, Pasay City], Enderun Colleges [Taguig City], Mall of Asia Arena [Pasay City], and Philippine Arena [Bulacan]) established to increase the testing capacity and immediately release the coronavirus test results.
The said memorandum was issued in support of Republic Act No. 11469 or the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act” and in compliance with the Memorandum issued by Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea dated May 05, 2020 calling for government personnel to assist in the Mega Swabbing Centers in the Philippines.
All volunteers will be given necessary training, protective medical equipment, accommodation, food, and transportation to and from the centers. A COVID-19 Hazard pay and/or Special Risk Allowance will also be granted. DepEd personnel who are at high risk of being infected with COVID-19 (i.e. 60 years old and above, and those with pre-existing or underlying medical problems) shall be excluded from the list of volunteers.
