In relation to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMC) Memorandum No. 132, s. 2022 entitled “Participation to the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2022”, the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA), through the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS), enjoins all schools and offices across all levels of the Department of Education (DepEd) to participate in the 2022 3rd Quarter NSED on September 8, 2022, Thursday at 9:00 AM and practice “duck, cover and hold” procedure as a minimum requirement.

The conduct of the in-person or online drill, including the evacuation activities, shall be within the discretion of the heads of the offices as they see it safe and suitable to their area in due consideration to their respective vulnerability to COVID-19 pandemic and minimum public health standards.

In order to further raise awareness regarding the earthquake drill, SDRRM Coordinators are encouraged to:

1. intensify the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign by displaying information on earthquake preparedness measures focusing
on children, women, youth students, and senior citizens through online forums such as media platforms and video conferences;

2. discuss results of Family Earthquake Preparedness Form as mandated in DO No. 27, s 2015; and

3. distribute maps containing evacuation routes and sites (at school or community) in coordination with LDRRMOs/ BDRRMCs.

All concerned 44 public schools are directed to launch an online NSED information drive and share good practices using the hashtag #BidaAngHanda. The copy of the
