1. Relative to Republic Act (RA) No. 10157, which institutionalized Kindergarten Education as part of the Basic Education System and emphasizes the provision of developmentally appropriate learning experiences, and Republic Act No. 10533, which promotes learner-centered and developmentally appropriate instruction under the K to 12 Basic Education Program, this Office, through the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID), announces the conduct of the Division Capacity-Building Training-Workshop titled “KUWENTURO: Enhancing Kindergarten Teachers’ Competence in Early Literacy Instruction Through Story Reading and Storytelling,” to be held on September 2-4, 2026, at the Emmanuel R. Ressureccion Congressional Integrated High School (ERCIHS), Bulwagang Emmanuel Ressureccion, Dasmarinas City, Cavite.
2. The training-workshop aims to enhance teachers’ competencies in teaching early literacy through story reading and storytelling, consistent with the principles of learner-centered and developmentally appropriate instruction.
3. Specifically, this activity shall:
a. demonstrate understanding of early grade literacy instruction and foundational reading concepts for Kindergarten learners;
b. enhance teaching strategies in improving reading readiness and comprehension among young learners;
c. apply effective techniques in story reading and storytelling appropriate for Kindergarten pupils;
d. produce and present storytelling outputs using developmentally appropriate methods and materials; and
e. provide constructive feedback through critiquing activities to improve storytelling delivery and literacy instruction practices
